Melissa Michaels, an award-winning author and Underneath Paradise screenwriter, is also the entertainment editor of L’Etage magazine and the founder of Inpeloto. Her insightful A Look Within book series showcases her literary prowess. When she’s not writing, Melissa dedicates her time to her brand, Inpeloto, creating jewelry, eco-friendly limited-edition t-shirts, and t-shirt bags to promote a message of INfinite PEace, LOve, and TOgetherness. Inpeloto, a socially conscious company, expresses its artistic ideas through eco-friendly jewelry, clothes, and accessories.

She trained at the Beverly Hills Playhouse, where her home is the theater. There, she nurtured her voice, perfected dance, and honed her acting skills.

Her current volunteer work includes Meals on Wheels and Black Girls Surf Foundation. Her past volunteer work included BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools), an all-volunteer program operating under the auspices of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, the charitable, educational, and humanitarian arm of the Screen Actors Guild.  She graduated from San Diego State University and the University of San Diego. She belongs to the prestigious community of the Poetry Society of America and the Academy of American Poets.

She also received San Diego Magazine‘s Woman of the Year nomination. She has an honorable mention on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Wall of Tolerance. The Wall of Tolerance demonstrates that individuals continue to stand up for social justice.
